PLEASE note that today's U19 League Cup fixture with Football CV Reds has been postponed until Monday 6th November with a 12.00pm kick-off.
Meanwhile, the youth team bowed out of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday evening with an agonising last-gasp defeat at the hands of Long Eaton United.
It was a bright start from our youngsters with Collins and Glover both going close in the opening exchanges.
We looked the most likely side and we were rewarded when Tweed fired us into the lead with a sweet strike that gave the ‘keeper no chance.
Boro were asking all of the questions as the first half went on and Adams was unlucky not to double our advantage when his effort hit the crossbar.
Despite our dominance, the visitors were able to grab an equaliser when Brittain’s low strike found its way into the net.
We refused to let our heads drop and a free-kick from Glover hit the woodwork as half-time approached.
The second period started in a much similar vein as the first with Boro looking the most likely side.
Our visitors were proving to be stubborn opposition, though, and we were unable to unlock their well-organised back-line.
Then, right at the death, we were hit with a sucker-punch when they broke away to grab a winning goal to take them through into the next round.
BORO: Lomax, Rowe, Steele, Elliott, Zuqolli, Saye, Collins, Tweed, Adams, Glover, Freestone. Subs: Osoimoeiokhan, Vervoort, Jones, Jhonnes, Smith.
