The best way to keep up to date with Nuneaton Town FC

IN FOCUS: Ryan Beswick

4 months ago By OL 2

Ahead of today's match midfielder Ryan Beswick spoke to about linking up with the Boro, regaining his place and bouncing back.

Beswick, formerly of Solihull Moors joined Boro in May this year after making 230 appearances for The Moors.

“I’ve known the chairman for a good few years, so there was that familiarity with personnel. It's closer to home, which is another big factor. I get to spend more time with my family, my girlfriend, we've just got a couple of dogs.”

“This club should be in the National League, its a big club. On our day we can beat anyone, the aspiration is to get back into that league.”

Although a regular starter early in the campaign, an ill-timed stomach bug has left Beswick out the team, but he is remaining positive.

“I’m not someone that gets bitter and stuff if people play ahead of me. I like competition it's good. I've got to keep training and be ready when needed.”

“They boys have done well, there is healthy competition and we are all pushing each other.”

“I’m still looking at play offs. I still only look at the table and look at the difference between those spots and us. That has got to be our realistic target. We are a talented squad of players that now need get results.”

Yet despite such a setback Beswick went on to explain how he remains focused, motivated and how the team remains united.

“You have got to get on with your job and all that matters really is the 90 minutes on the pitch. So it's quite easy for me to move on from things in football.”

“I know football can be horrible and cruel, but when you put the shirt on, Saturday or Tuesday night, play your heart out, run as hard as you can and try and win. That's all you can really do as a player, in any circumstances.”

“I’ve seen players over the years, who it wouldn't take much to put them off their game and they can have an excuse lined up to not perform like they should, but as a group of lads here we've put what happened behind us, which is good.”
