Nuneaton Town 0-1 Barrow

By

Nuneaton exited this years FA Trophy at the hands of Barrow A.F.C.

Nuneaton Town bowed out of the Buildbase FA Trophy in cruel fashion as Byron Harrison's injury time winner proved the difference in an even encounter.

Defeat was the first for Boro in five matches, on an afternoon that ultimately ended in disappointment for Dino Maamria's side.

The encounter started slowly as Harrison could not find the target through a speculative long range lob, whilst at the other end Jordan Nicholson saw his cross from the right comfortably held by Joel Dixon.

With ten minutes on the clock the visitors looked to threaten. A dangerous centre was steered clear by the Nuneaton backline, before Harrison headed wide from the resulting corner.

It took until midway in the first half for Dean Lyness to be tested in the Boro goal. The sharp stopper showing agility and a strong hand to deny opposition centre half James Dunne from close range.

Jordan White was next to threaten for the away side as he headed wide, before the hosts finished the opening period strongly.

Joel Dielna proved a handful down the left hand side, before Boro's best chance of the match.

Nicholson and striker Ashley Chambers showed great combination football inside the area to lay on Billy Daniels. The midfielder arrived at pace and let fly, only to saw his goal bound effort cleared off the line, by a mixture of both defender and goalkeeper.

Boosted by their strong first half finish Boro returned from the interval a continued threat. Nicholson came to life and his surging run saw him find space and shoot narrowly wide from the angle.

The momentum of the match was unfortunately lost by a host of substitutions and bookings, as the game became increasingly competitive in the closing stages.

Donovan Makoma of Barrow saw his shot held, whilst Boro pressed on in search of the winner. Daniels seemed set to let fly, only for a sliding tackle to halt his progress.

With four minutes added time indicated it seemed a replay was on the cards. However the visitors struck late on to break Nuneaton hearts.

A corner in the 91st minute caused problems and Harrison was able to nod home from close range seeing Barrow through into the next round.
