Healthy Lives, Healthy Futures!
Nuneaton Town Vitality is an initiative that we have rolled out to year 5 children in all schools across Coventry, Nuneaton & Bedworth and North Warwickshire. We are fully aware of the rise of obesity in children throughout the local Borough and feel that this programme has played a key role in making children more aware of the importance of physical activity and a healthy diet.
The Vitality programme covers a 6 week period in which the children have the opportunity to visit the Triton Showers Community Arena on two separate occasions. They are then able to make use of the stadiums fantastic facilities which include an Interactive children’s gym equipped with Sportswall and Dance Mats. Children are also able to grow their own vegetables at our new stadium allotment followed by food preparation in our club kitchen.
On week 1 the children are allocated a project that requires them to produce a song, rap, poem or fitness routine that incorporates the key messages based around a healthy lifestyle. They are then required to perform at the stadium on week 6.
On week 2, 3, and 4 Nuneaton Town community coaches will visit the school to carry out PPA provision that will consist of multi sport activity as well as classroom support.
