Front-man 'ecstatic' after first senior hat-trick...
HAT-TRICK hero, Ashley Chambers was ‘ecstatic’ after claiming the first senior hat-trick of his career.
The front-man sealed Boro’s place in the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup whilst also picking up the Man of the Match award for his efforts.
“I’m ecstatic,” he said shortly after the final whistle. “It’s the first hat-trick of my professional career and it couldn’t have come at a better time for me and the team.
“For it to come in such as special competition as the FA Cup makes it even more memorable.
“It was important that we got the win; the FA Cup can be a welcome distraction for us and the hope now is that we can use this to kick-start our season.
“From one to 11 there were good performances all over the pitch. I felt that the back four and goalkeeper looked really solid and they gave us a good foundation on which we were able to build.
“It’s just a pity that they scored right at the end because they deserved a clean sheet.
“We needed to stand up and be counted and every player did that. This win will give us the confidence and belief to take into the next game.”
