Boss on our 3-0 victory over Southport...
BORO boss, Tommy Wright, was full of praise for his side after a second successive hat-trick from Ashley Chambers gave us a deserved 3-0 victory over Southport.
“The most important thing was to get the three points, by hook or by crook,” he said. “The challenge was there for the lads to build on last week’s win and I am delighted with the way in which they went about their business.
“It was a sloppy start from us and after we missed the penalty I thought it was going to be one of those days, but after the first goal went in we grew in confidence.
“We stuck to our game plan; they set up as we expected them to and the lads took on board what they were told to get a deserved win.
“I always fancy us to score goals. Ash is a Football League striker , he’s an out-and-out number nine and I am honoured that he chose to come here during the summer.
“He is a quality player, but there were good performances all over the pitch. I felt that Luther Wildin is showing plenty of maturity at the moment and a determination to keep his shirt, whilst Brady Hickey caused Southport plenty of problems and was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet.
“The confidence is high now with two consecutive wins under our belt. I would back these boys against anyone at this level. Everyone is capable of beating each other in this League, but when we’re at it we can beat anyone at this level.
“We’ve got the momentum now to take into next weekend’s FA Cup tie at Nantwich Town.”
