Each player, as well as Manager Dino Maamria and his backroom team, have selected their personal top three and aggregated the scores to settle on the definitive list. The Top 5 will be unveiled over the coming days as we build-up to the release of the Oscar and BAFTA nominated, stranger than fiction, story of Olympic figure-skater Tonya Harding. I, Tonya is released on Friday the 23rd of February.
After Rocky came in at number five in our list, we return to the Boxing ring for number 3. Southpaw is a 2015 drama directed by Antoine Fuqua, written by Kurt Sutter and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker and Rachel McAdams. The film follows a boxer who sets out to get his life back on track after losing his wife in an accident and his young daughter to protective services.
Much like Goal!, which came in at number four, Southpaw was not a critical success, though Gyllenhaal received much praise for his performance. Kairo Mitchell and Luther Wildin named it as their favourite sports film, with Wildin going on to say that the film displayed “no matter how low things may get, if you keep working, there's always a way to make it back to the top.” Kennedy Digie and Adil Nabi also included Soutpaw in their top three lists.
