Goals from Jordan Nicholson and Ashley Chambers either side of the interval had pushed Boro towards their first victory under Dino Maamria.
However a second half fight back from Chorley saw Nuneaton leave Lancashire with a point.
The afternoon started ideally for Boro as Nicholson struck in the sixth minute.
It initially appeared the opportunity had passed for the attacking midfielder, but he reacted quickest to fire home right footed.
Minutes Daniel Nti came close to adding a second but had his effort held, before Nicholson and Leon Lobjoit both shot wide as Boro looked to add a second.
Whilst Chorley were limited to attempts from left back Adam Blakeman and a header from captain Andy Teague which was glanced wide.
Into the second half Nuneaton doubled their advantage inside a minute as frontman Ashley Chambers slotted home.
Anticipation from Tom Elliott to seize on possession in midfield, allowed Chambers to be fed through. Completing a 30 yard run, he kept his composure to slide beyond the hosts goalkeeper to double Boro’s advantage.
Chambers came close on occasions to doubling his tally for the afternoon, but it was Chorley who with just under half an hour remaining hit back.
Teague won a corner and Blakeman’s delivery was met by Josh O’Keefe. His scrambled effort was deemed to have crossed the line, despite the protests of Boro players.
Chorley, boosted by the goal mounted attack after attack on Dean Lyness‘ goal.
And whilst Nuneaton looked to threaten on the counter attack, the pressure eventually told.
Substitute Matty Hughes found space before pushing on and striking the equaliser right footed.
Despite conceding the equaliser Boro came close to grabbing the winner, when Chambers was twice denied. Whilst at the other end Jason Walker rattled the crossbar.
However on a day of high drama the spoils were shared, as Nuneaton claimed their first point under Maamria.
